Happy Friday Ya’ll!

Bitch I’m back! By popular demand..

I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus lately, but I’m back! A few things have gone on in the past couple of months:

  1. I moved to the DMV area from NYC
  2. Got a new job
  3. Gave Cupcakes & Caviar a new look
  4. Joined the fabulous foodies at Girls on Food blog as a contributing blogger

With that said, there is no better post to bring us back with than a review on brunch at The Warehouse Bar and Grill in Old Town, Alexandria.

I fell in love with Old Town Alexandria the moment I stepped on to its cobblestoned streets. Many of the restaurants are in what look like homes so they always feels as if you’re in someones private dining room, which I love! The Warehouse Bar and Grill is one of those restaurants. This restaurant specializes in prime aged steaks and seafood, and many of their menu items are Creole/Cajun inspired.

Decor/Atmosphere

The inside decor of The Warehouse Bar and Grill is white with mahogany features and funny caricatures of famous locals who have visited. When my husband and I arrived, we sat in their front dining space which allowed for perfect people watching through their large front bay window.  There is also a large full bar towards the back.

What We Ordered

Although they don’t offer an unlimited mimosa brunch (you know how I LOVE my boozy brunches) they still offer all of the brunch cocktails we know and love by the glass. First, I started off with a mimosa that tasted like they used fresh squeezed orange juice (although I didn’t confirm). It was one of the best mimosas I’ve tasted and the champagne to OJ ratio was perfect.

Side note:

(My only complaint was that the entrees were supposed to come with a complimentary glass of strawberries and champagne, or a bowl of strawberries and cream. However, when we chose strawberries and champagne, we were just brought a bowl of strawberries. Huh? At first I thought I misunderstood and they were strawberries soaked in champagne, but realized as we were leaving, that was not the case. Others had champagne! Dang!)

Next, for appetizers, we split the Crawfish and Shrimp Beignets. The beignets were deep-fried and served with a garlic mayo sauce. I’m not the biggest crawfish fan, but these were banging!

My husband also had the Creole Alligator Stew (not pictured), which he enjoyed. For those who haven’t tried alligator and might not be convinced by this choice, the Mr. likened it to eating a beef stew. You wont be able to tell you’re eating alligator, but will be able to use it as a cool conversation starter. “That one time, when I had alligator…”

Finally, for entrees, I ordered the Crab and Asparagus Omelet and my husband ordered their Crab Cake Eggs Benedict.

The crab in both my omelet and my husbands dish was juicy and buttery and we could not stop talking mid-chew about how much we loved it!

After our meal there was no room for dessert so I can’t comment on that. I know, epic fail!

Overall, Warehouse Bar and Grill was a solid brunch choice, and makes for a great mid-day date idea. Service was good, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was casual classy (did I make that up?). Tips: 1. Make sure you get your damn complimentary glass of strawberries and champagne! 🙂 2. After brunch, take a walk around Old Town or hop on the free trolley and take it down to the water
