I’ve never been much of a seafood person, but since becoming pregnant I find myself craving it often. When you’re carrying a human though, the powers that be (your doctors and Google) advise you to stay away from raw fish and high mercury fish. When I first found out, I was googling everything I ate. I mean how the heck do I know what has high mercury? So is shrimp OK? Crab legs?!?!
If you’re on the edge of your seat, the answers were all yes! #blessed
Now 21 weeks in and more confident in my acceptable food choices, I was excited to be invited to try some of the new seafood specials at Bonefish Grill!

I visited the Pentagon City location in Arlington, VA last week. Although my reservation wasn’t showing in their system, they were accommodating and able to find my husband and I a table quickly.
The atmosphere at Bonefish Grill is casual and romantical (I know that’s not a real word,::shrugs::). I appreciated its date night feel, but would also feel comfortable going back with our newborn when we need to escape the four walls of our apartment!
The menu had a little something for both seafood lovers and land lovers. We opted for the Bang Bang Shrimp, Crab Salsa & Guacamole, Bone-in Ribeye, Thai-Inspired George’s Bank Sea Scallops, Italian Seafood Risotto, and of course topped it all off with a Brownie Sundae.
The Bang Bang Shrimp and Italian Seafood Risotto were my favorite. So much flavor! I found the Thai Inspired Scallops dish to be too bland, so I’d put that as my least favorite of the night. I couldn’t enjoy the bone-in ribeye (another pregnancy rule: don’t eat undercooked meat; but who eats steak well-done?), but according to my husband it was “pretty damn good.”
Overall the experience was great. If you have a chance to try a Bonefish Grill near you, I’d definitely recommend it!
