n. Femme Fatale – “a womyn who exudes confidence, independence, and is following their truth in life. They know that no one else is needed to complete them because they are already whole. A femme fatale gives herself the utmost love and respect, and thus emanates that to the world, and receives those gifts back.” – taken from femmefataledc.com
Femme Fatale DC is a local pop-up shop housing collections of local Womyn* creators and entrepreneurs. Everything from food to art, to clothing, jewelry and fabulous things in between will be sold.
*the spelling of “womyn” signifies Femme Fatale’s belief that every woman is completely whole on her own. Amen!
I was lucky enough to attend the Femme Fatale pop-up soft launch party on Tuesday and was blown away. This is the second Femme Fatal pop-up and this year it’s located in a much larger space – Union Social.
Union Social has officially been transformed into a beautifully curated space with over 50 women owned businesses. There is something so inspiring about stepping into a room and being around strong, empowered women, hungry to make their dreams come true and living by their passions.
In short, Femme Fatale DC pop-up is fun, and lively and has something for everyone. Since they’ll be operating from now until December, it’s a perfect spot to get some of your Holiday shopping done. I’m sure everyone on your nice list will appreciate the unique items you are sure to find! A few of my favorites were:
Femme Fatale DC Pop-Up Favorites
Glaminizers – Their lip scrub is la bomba, and everything is made with natural products. They are also 100% cruelty-free and Vegan.
EA Polish – A fast drying, non-toxic nail polish brand for the woman on the go. Each bottle also includes an empowering message, in case you need that extra push!
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and creator of EA Polish, Ellyse. Her story was so inspiring. After becoming a new mom, she realized she couldn’t spend 40+ minutes getting her nails done anymore and definitely didn’t have enough time to wait for them to dry. So, she took a leap I only wish I had the strength to do. Ellyse decided to create her own nail polish. One that would be for the hard working woman that wanted to keep her nails looking fab but just didn’t have the time. Elysse quit her job and went all in! Make sure you support this awesome business and stop by!
Stoner Girl Treats and Eats – They were serving up some divine Unicorn cupcakes. You know ya girl was LOVING them! They specialize in Vegan treats, and um ahem, special Hemp treats, so make sure to stop by and show some love.
Mixin Mimi Mixology – A mobile bartending and event staffing company. I tried their Strawberry HibisKISS cocktails made with Absolute Hibiscus Vodka and it was dee-licious! Check them out for your next party!
Refeel & Co – Ok, so I’m a little obsessed with Refeel & Co and kind of annoyed that I didn’t go back to buy their ReFeel Decks. The ReFeel decks are a deck of cards each consisting of a reminder or intention to set for the day. Their “I am” decks were even more dope. These consisted of various positive affirmations to speak into existence every day. Refeel & Co is all about self-care and vibrating higher, and I’m 100% here for it! Make sure to stop by their booth at the pop-up or check them out online.
The Golden Pineapple – The Golden Pineapple is “a female positive lifestyle brand that focuses on the intersection of cannabis, art, meditation, and philanthropy (goldenpineappledc.com).” Stopping by their booth is sure to be the HIGHlight of your day. See what I did there??! 🙂
Republic Restoratives Distillery – A women-owned distillery located in the Ivy City neighborhood of DC.I was able to sample their Vodka and Bourbon while at the launch party, and both were so smooth. Catch em at the pop-up or stop by their tasting room in Ivy City for a tour of the distillery and samples.
Nosh Bar – All natural, clean and simple bars made with love in DC. So many yummy flavors to choose from like Chocolate, Goji Berry and Figstachio. All of the ingredients are recognizable, real foods and don’t sound like they were made in a science lab, so I’d say these are pretty great!
Ovieya Cuisine – A local DMV catering company specializing in West African cuisine. At the launch party, they were serving jollof rice, plantains, and black eyed beans. I loveeee me some plantains and jollof rice and theirs was a tasty treat. To be honest, I might go back to the pop-up just for this. I’m a fatty and write a food blog, are you surprised? They’ll be at the Femme Fatale pop-up cafe so head on over and give them a try.
I can’t stress enough how magical this pop-up is. The brands and amazing businesses listed above are only the tips of the iceberg of what’s to be expected at Femme Fatale DC’s second pop-up. Grab ya girls and make it a date, or start your holiday shopping and get your loved ones a gift they’ll love!
